CAPE CARTERET, North Carolina - The Cape Carteret Turkey Trot, hosted by Cape Carteret Aquatics and Wellness, proudly raised $15,000 for the non-profit organization Emerald Isle for Vets. This funding will directly support Hurricane Helene Recovery Relief efforts in Western North Carolina.
Hurricane Helene Relief from the Crystal Coast
“Thanks to our incredible community, we’ve been able to make a significant impact in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Race Director Jessica Diaz of Diaz Media Marketing. “It’s heartwarming to see so many families come together for a great cause, and we’re grateful for every participant, sponsor, and donor.”
A total of 425 registered for the event, representing local families from Cape Carteret, Emerald Isle, Swansboro, and surrounding areas, as well as extended family visiting the coast for the holiday. This year's participation was higher than last year's, showcasing the growing support for this meaningful event.
In a remarkable display of solidarity and compassion, this Crystal Coast community has come together to lend a helping hand to Emerald Isle for Veterans. The non-profit organization, dedicated to assisting those in need, has taken on the critical task of facilitating recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastating impact on Western North Carolina. This initiative not only highlights the resilience of the local population but also underscores the importance of statewide community involvement in the recovery process. Crystal Coast locals have experience in recovering from storm related disasters, it is our duty to lend our neighbors a helping hand during their time of struggle. The collective efforts of volunteers, local businesses, and civic leaders are making a significant difference in the lives of many, fostering a spirit of unity and hope as the community rebuilds and strives to restore normalcy in the aftermath of the storm.
